Reports earlier this week that Barclays has headhunted Darryl West, group CIO of Lloyds Banking Group have been confirmed by a CIO UK source in the financial services sector.

West was reported by eFinancial Careers to be leaving Lloyds in November 2013 to join Barclays, which has been confirmed to CIO UK. At Barclays West will retain the job title Group CIO.

West joined Lloyds in 2005, has spent the majority of his CIO career in financial services with IT leadership stints at the National Australia Group and JP Morgan.

Back in 2011 West was linked to a role at ailing technology firm HP by ComputerworldUK, a sister title to CIO.

The last four years of West’s career at Lloyds have seen the CIO lead the integration of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS), which Lloyds acquired in 2009 at the height of the financial crisis.

No comment was made by the press offices of either bank.
