Broking firm Arthur J Gallagher has named Giles Baxter, RSA's UK and Western Europe IT and change leader, as its new International CIO.

Confirming the move to CIO UK, the US company said the position was specifically created to oversee the IT estate of its expanding global operations. Baxter would be based in London and oversee all territories outside North America, including the Australia, Caribbean, Norway, Singapore, South America and the UK.

Commenting on the appointment, Arthur J Gallagher's international chief executive David Ross said: "The rapid pace of our own expansion, coupled with the insurance market's growing reliance on technology to do business, demands a forward-looking, highly strategic IT strategy and Giles Baxter's credentials are an exceptional fit to our needs."

Baxter had been at RSA for eight years having held senior IT and operational roles including the posts of group IT strategy manager and IT director of RSA Asia and Middle East. Prior to joining RSA, he was the head of development at Acturis. Baxter has also had stints at Project One and Accenture.
