Britain's largest energy producer is also the world's largest utility company. EDF is a division of Électricité de France, which has operations across Europe, the US, Asia and a foothold in Africa. In late 2009 EDF acquired British Energy, the national nuclear energy producer and is expected to be at the forefront of plans by both the Conservatives and Labour to expand nuclear energy in the UK.
EDF was formed from the mergers of Seeboard, London Electricity Board and Sweb Energy.
The parent company has the introduction of e-procurement, which they report has achieved savings through the automation of purchasing contract signings and tender invitations.
EDF and British Energy are key clients of Capgemini for a variety of areas including training.
