WH Smith is linking up with Regus the meeting rooms and office space providers to create business spaces in the high street. The "office-in-a-box" programme that offers instant office space, has been successfully trialed and is now being rolled out to a series of selected WH Smith stores.

Like all retailers, WH Smith has found the credit crisis difficult, but did report in June 2009 that it was witnessing an increase in consumer confidence.
WH Smith has been pursuing cost reductions across the company using IT. It is mid-way through a three year £11m savings programme that targets business functions and IT and is increasingly outsouring operations.
