As you look at migrating more infrastructure to the cloud, here are four key points to remember:

1. Make sure your service contract clearly stipulates that data will be stored in the European Union. The EU is serious about personal data security.

2. Don’t assume you can just flip a switch and turn a cloud service on. As Altran found out with both SaaS and IaaS offerings, you need to allow time for configuration.

2. If you want to avoid doing any configuring or operating yourself, consider managed services. But rather than seek cloud services through a managed services provider, choose a best-in-class cloud service first, and then find a managed services provider to operate it.

4. Despite the fears many buyers have about security, mature cloud service providers usually offer far more security than customers can implement themselves. Just remember to do your due diligence in figuring out which of the many cloud service providers are mature.
