UKvisas, the joint Home Office and Foreign Office directorate that runs the UK visa service overseas, has signed a £140 million business process outsourcing deal with CSC.

The deal will see CSC establish three regional visa application centres covering 15 countries for UKvisas.

The outsourcer will provide information to visa applicants through a variety of channels, including multilingual call centres and websites in another 87 countries worldwide.

CSC will also be responsible for capturing biometric data on all visa applicants, including photographs and fingerprints.

The deal marks another expansion in CSC’s UK public sector outsourcing business. The company is now the lead contractor for the Natianl Helath Service’s National Programme for IT in three out of five regions, having taken over contracts in two regions when Accenture pulled out last year.
