UK public-service television broadcaster, Channel 4 plans a short season of 3D programming this autumn as it teams with a major supermarket to distribute 3D glasses.

Channel 4 and CIO 100 ranked retailer Sainsbury's will offer the special glasses so viewers can watch a series of special programs.

Channel 4 will use low-cost ColorCode technology, which reportedly looks fairly normal without 3D glasses for the tests, but gains depth when viewed through amber and blue filters.

Freeview, satellite and cable channel Virgin 1 will air an episode of hit US comedy Chuck tomorrow night - Tuesday 25 August - also using the same technology, with ColorCode glasses distributed in copies of TV & Satellite Week magazine.
