Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire County Councils are planning to sign a four-year framework deal, for an IT platform and applications provider, worth between £23.5 million and £70.5 million.

The councils are partners in a Local Government Shared Services (LGSS) scheme, which is looking to appoint a supplier for an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform software as a service, ERP platform development, enhancement and optimisation and operational transition support. The supplier may also need to provide software and support for functions within the councils, such as HR, procurement, finance and legal.

According to a contract notice, the framework agreement will be made available to other councils around the country, including Chichester District Council, City of London, Cornwall Council, Herefordshire Council and North Yorkshire County Council.

Last week, seven councils in the South East of England agreed to form a consortium to buy shared services, including IT.

Called the SE7, the consortium, led by Surrey and East Sussex, have a combined annual budget of £3.4 billion.

At the beginning of this year, Lancashire County Council announced that it was looking for suppliers to provide up to £1.9 billion worth of IT services, which would be shared with its 12 borough councils, Cumbria County Council and other local bodies over a ten-year period.
