Car maker Ford has expanded an existing IT outsourcing deal with Logica.

Under a new multimillion pound, five-year agreement, Logica will provide it with payroll services, as well as staff time and attendance records. Logica has been a general IT services supplier to Ford for 25 years.

The new systems will cover 10 different Ford’s UK locations, where 13,000 employees work. They will go live in 2010.

The company will use a new Oracle HCM-based payroll system, to be integrated with its existing Oracle Peoplesoft application, hosted by Logica. It will pay for the service on a pay-as-you-go basis.

It will also implement a staff time and attendance records system from Crown Computing.

Ford said it would be more efficient, and have better management information, as a result of the changes.

In February, Ford signed a deal to use hosted supply chain software from Sovereign Business Integration, to help control its outbound flow of cars from manufacturing plants, as well as to monitor all overseas ports from which cars are shipped to this country.
