3663 First for Foodservice, which delivers food and drink to the foodservice sector, has signed a five-year IT managed service contract with Fujitsu.

Under the outsourcing contract, Fujitsu will provide a complete IT managed service, which includes hosting all systems, managing servers, desktop management and helpdesk and process support.

Fujitsu is replacing Serco, which currently manages 3663’s IT. Fujitsu will transfer 145 servers and 3663’s SAN from Serco’ datacentres to Fujitsu’s Tier 3 datacentre. The IT supplier will also introduce services for the service desk, so that users can track their calls via a web portal. Moreover, the services Fujitsu will deliver will be based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework. The food company will continue to have the same IT infrastructure on its site, which includes 44 small servers.

3663, which is based across the UK, has nearly two million square feet of warehouses, and over 1000 temperature-controlled delivery trucks serving around 60,000 customers. It relies on IT systems to enable it to fulfil up to 23,000 orders a day for next day delivery.

Lee Hinton, head of IT infrastructure for 3663, said: “By outsourcing the management of our IT systems to Fujitsu, we feel confident that we will reduce costs as a result of improved service and improved systems availability.”
