Payments association Apacs has said 400,000 workers whose pay has been delayed by IT glitches should be resolved by Monday.

Slow processing speeds affecting the UK electronic payment system, BACS was reportedly responsible for the problem, which has delayed the payments of a seemingly random number of UK employees.

As well as reassuring those affected, Apacs said any charges incurred as a result of funds that clear late as a result of the problems would be refunded.

It advised companies that have been affected to make sure staff were kept informed, while adding that there seemed to be no pattern to which payments had been affected.
