Thomas Cook, the travel company, has awarded a multi-year contract to Anite for the supply of an online reservation system in its UK business.

Under the contract, Anite will implement and support its Travel @com reservation system in Thomas Cook, which was given the go-ahead to merge with The Co-operative Group last year.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed, although Anite has said that the contract win will help make the revenues and profits at its travel business for the year to 30 April 2012 "at least in line" with its results last year.

Thomas Cook rival TUI Travel also uses Anite's @comRes reservation system, which it implemented last May, to replace its legacy systems.

Other IT providers at Thomas Cook include Galileo, which runs its global distribution system (GDS) operation and Lufthansa Systems, which has a major data centre in Hertfordshire that hosts its applications. The travel company also has a long-term contract with outsourcer Accenture for cloud-based infrastructures for the delivery of services.
