Board politics
Effective CIOs are adept at corporate board-level politics. As technology is a central pillar of organisations of all sizes, the CIO has to become a key member of, or senior adviser to, the management board, making key decisions on all aspects of the business and therefore being required to understand all departments, operations and issues that arise. Driving through change management and technology requires board support to ensure success.
