Budget management is a core competency of any senior management position. CIO budgets are under increasing pressure to deliver more IT for less cost. The CIO must be able to demonstrate when their budget needs to be expanded to deliver innovative services, but also an ability to keep their department on budget by extracting maximum value from staff and technology they have.
