Subway is set to roll out a new point of sales system to 30,000 restaurants.

The sandwich chain will install the Torex QuickService Restaurant system in a bid to move to a single point of sale system in its outlets around the world.

Subway said it needed a single point of sale system that suited both individual franchisees and the company overall. The move is designed to control costs and enable fast system rollouts globally.

Thys Van Hout, chief technology officer at Subway, said the company spent a year evaluating suppliers. The move is “the largest global deployment of a commercially available solution” in the fast food market, Van Hout explained.
