Microsoft announced it would make the Surface Pro tablet available in the UK and another 23 countries over May and June, and also expanded availability of its Surface RT tablet, although Microsoft has still not confirmed a Surface Pro UK price.

The Surface Pro tablet, which has Windows 8 and runs on an Intel Core i5 processor, was only available in the US, Canada and China after it initially shipped in February. The expanded availability could boost shipments of Surface tablets, which have so far sold below expectations, according to analysts.

Starting in May, the Surface Pro will become available in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland. The tablet will become available in South Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand before the end of June, Microsoft said.

In the US, a Surface Pro with 64GB storage is priced at $899, while a 128GB model is $999.

The Surface RT tablet, which has Windows RT and runs on an ARM processor, will become available on in Mexico on April 25, and in South Korea next month. It will become available in Thailand by the end of June, Microsoft said.

The RT tablet is already available in 26 countries.
