Talk Talk appoint new CIO to lead Tiscali integration

Telco expert David Cooper joins Talk Talk from rival 3

Talk Talk the internet service provider (ISP) has recruited long time telecoms CIO David Cooper as CIO to oversee the integration of former Italian owned ISP Tiscali into Talk Talk.

Cooper will report directly to Talk Talk managing director Wendy Becker and be responsible for the IT across Talk Talk for billing and customer service. "David is a very experienced IT director and he will play an important part in the development of our infrastructure," Becker said.

Talk Talk acquired Tiscali UK, the British arm of the Italian ISP, in May 2009 for £236 million. Cooper will be responsible for the integration of the two companies.

Cooper joins Talk Talk from Hutchinson 3G, where he was IT Director, CTO and rose to become head of operations and technology. He joined 3 in June 2002 from BT where he had been head of network and systems design.

Talk Talk is part of the Carphone Warehouse business, which has been investing in CRM technology to improve its growth prospects.
