Croydon signs £83m Capgemini contract extension

Five year deal will support IT and telecoms setup

Croydon Council has signed an £83 million, five year contract renewal for Capgemini to support its IT and telecoms infrastructure.

Under the new agreement, Capgemini will support infrastructure and networks, including 4,000 desktop computers and the council’s key business applications including finance, procurement and customer service. Work will be carried out on site, as well as from Capgemini sourcing centres in the UK, Europe and India.

Capgemini will also provide consultancy.

Croydon plans to invest in a new wireless network infrastructure, upgrade key business systems and hardware, and implement a new geographic information system.

The council said the agreement had in its first five years significantly improved service levels and IT efficiency, adding that it now had one of the best performing council contact centres in the country. It also had one of the highest take-ups of online services, it said.

Nathan Elvery, director of finance and resources, said Capgemini had “demonstrated that they understand our needs and have been able to deliver innovative IT services on time and within budget”.
