The government has signed £1 billion worth of two-year framework deals with 19 suppliers, for software applications.
The deal opens up advantageous buying terms to all central government departments. Contracts have been drawn up with an optional two year extension.
The suppliers involved are Accenture, Bramble.cc, CACI, Capgemini, Capita, Connect Internet Solutions, Deloitte MCS, Detica, HP, Fujitsu, Hitachi Consulting, IBM, IPL Information Processing, Kainos, Methods Consulting, Mouchel, Northgate, Reading Room and SciSys.
The contracts were split into six lots. Accenture, Fujitsu, Capgemini and Mouchel won in all six categories, which are bespoke applications; customer relationship management and case management solutions; document and records management; human resources, finance, procurement, transaction management and enterprise resource planning; information management; and web design and content management.
Other contracts signed include those with Capita, which won bespoke applications; and human resources, finance, procurement, transaction management and ERP. HP and IBM both won in the CRM; document management; and ERP and HR categories; while Northgate will provide bespoke applications; CRM; document management; and information management.
In other procurement news, last May, a government report urged the Office of Government Commerce to draw up an e-procurement strategy, which it said would contribute to £6.1 billion in collaborative purchasing savings.
