Construction giant Kentz builds out new CRM

Kentz implements Microsoft CRM

Global engineering and construction group Kentz is implementing a core customer relationship management (CRM) system from Microsoft to support business development, help track projects and deliver international knowledge management.

Kentz, which has a $1 billion turnover and is listed on the London Stock Exchange, is deploying Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft business analytics software. The Kentz CRM system is being installed internationally on its behalf by IT services firm Maxima.

Maxima will help Kentz take full advantage of sector-specific functionality in the software, which includes Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Construction. The system includes the ability to track all business development activity by project, client and influencer; the management of complex bids and tenders; and supports critical pre-qualification questionnaire activities.

"Kentz works across 28 countries, and we're increasingly engaged in extending our geographic reach in our core markets of oil and gas, petrochemicals, metals and mining and resources. Having an integrated business development and project tracking capability is critical," said Eddie Lewis, Kentz group development officer.

Nissan recently signed a cloud-based CRM with Microsoft to support its dealers around the world. The Microsoft Dynamics system in the Windows Azure cloud is designed to increase dealer sales and help Nissan develop a stronger relationship with its customers.

The cloud 2015 vision

Cloud computing is an important transition and a paradigm shift in IT services delivery - one that promises large gains in efficiency and flexibility at a time when demands on data centers are growing exponentially. The tools, building blocks, solutions, and best practices for cloud computing are evolving and challenges to deploying cloud solutions need to be considered.

The consumerisation of technology

iPads are the must-have fad. Android is the rising mobile platform -- Everywhere you turn, the news is about personal, smart, mobile devices and their impact on business and on IT.

Big data analytics

Broadly, there are two ways to think of Big Data technologies. The first is as an extension of what many organisations are already doing with business analytics. Gaining insight from business information is something that has been happening for decades, but the challenges and opportunities are now greater than ever before.

Virtualisation: benefits, challenges and solutions

The majority of organisations have already implemented server virtualisation and most intend to implement additional server virtualisation during the next year. The primary factors driving the movement to deploy server virtualisation are cost savings and the ability to dynamically provision and move VMs among physical servers. There are however, a number of significant challenges associated with server virtualisation.
