HP creates 150 high-tech jobs in Ireland

Company bolsters IT applications and cloud computing R&D

HP has announced the creation of 150 research and development jobs to expand its Irish operations, with funding from regional development agency IDA Ireland.

A further 130 technical and support roles, taking the total number of new jobs to 280, will also be created to support the expansion.

Recruitment for the jobs will begin immediately, with HP looking for highly qualified computer science and engineering graduates, as well as experienced engineers.

The new recruits will work on projects involving the build, test and deployment of large-scale systems using cloud-based infrastructures and multiple delivery channels, including mobile, video and social media.

The jobs will be based in Galway and Kildare, and contribute up to 45 million (£37.6 million) to the Irish economy over three years, according to Martin Murphy, managing director of HP Ireland.
