BT renews billing tool deal

Wants to cut costs and understand customer behaviour better

British Telecom (BT) has signed a five year renewal deal for a key billing tool used across its operations.

The Infinys Rating and Billing Manager software will continue to be used across BT, including in its Retail, Wholesale and Global Services divisions. BT said using the software would help it cut costs.

The deal covers support and maintenance, and contains a clause allowing a one year extension. Convergys consultants will work alongside BT staff on hardware configuration and performance, software architecture, and day-to-day change requests.

Clive Selley, managing director of global platforms at BT, said the software provided BT with “billing accuracy” and “the ability to take a holistic view of customer billing activity so we can better understand our customers’ needs”.

Last month, BT announced it would lay off 10,000 workers as it seeks to cut costs and improve the profitability of its services arm.
