Friday

AR, PW and I met to discuss the programme for completion of our business case for a fully converged broadband network throughout Newham, and links into other projects. I seconded PW to project manage this work.

The expected result is full specification of a programme covering areas such as fixed (fibre) and wireless infrastructure, CCTV, traffic management, data centre, digital media, video art etc. We're aiming to take the final report to Cabinet on 13 December.

The ICT staff council met today. Items included our next ICT service "away days", whose themes will include new ways of working, some visioning stuff around Web 2.0, planning for Building 1000, staff confidentiality agreements and coverage of partner working & services supplied outside the council, arranging our Christmas celebrations, and one or two more prosaic matters.

Later I met with my Steria Account Development Executive to discuss potential developments in our relationship. (Steria is our partner in Caboodle Solutions Limited, our joint-venture IT Services company.) Among other things, we discussed traffic management, command and control systems, resilient data centres and CCTV behaviour monitoring.

Caroline Guntern-Shea, from Anite, telephoned. Following a reorganisation, she has again become our Account Manager. We have a number of EDRM (Electronic Document Records Management) issues to resolve, and I was pleased to hear from her – especially since a planned meeting with Anite earlier this week didn't materialise because of a calendar mix-up.

Missed my monthly "Fit Club MOT" (again)!
