CIO Summit 2010 part 7: Derek Gannon

In September 2010, CIO held its inaugural summit in London, attended by around 80 CIOs and other IT leaders.

Stan Dacre from Hitachi Consulting starts this video to explain the business journey for IT. As a business leader, CIOs need to be able to cope with the pace of change, which Dacre says is only going to get faster.

Then, at 17 minutes and 20 seconds into this video, Guardian Media Group COO Derek Gannon takes the stage to talk about how the role of the CIO is likely to change, as the technology strategy of the company increasingly becomes the business strategy. According to Gannon, claims of the death of the CIO have been greatly exaggerated.
