Richard Sykes experiences the HP application transformation CIO workshop

CIO columnist Richard Sykes, a former CIO with chemicals manufacturer ICI recently took a deeper look into some Coleman Parkes Research material and an HP workshop on application sprawl in the enterprise.

The research, sponsored by HP, states that application sprawl is a major issue for CIOs across Europe and that maintaining software is preventing CIOs from innovating for their organisations.

According to the survey 74 per cent of surveyed CIOs believe application sprawl is becoming a major issue for their organisation because 15 per cent of the applications in the enterprise are underutilised and not providing business benefit.
