Acquisition of Towers Watson's ReInsurance business (valued at some $400m and acquired for $250m) in Q3/413 making JLT The 4th largest reinsurance company in the world - overnight.
What impact will it/does it have on the organisation?
The Towers Re acquisition is the biggest purchase JLT has made in its history and represents a genuine moment of transformation for the company and the global reinsurance broking market.
The newly combined business has revenues of US$266m (£166m) and operations in 17 global locations. JLT now employs over 9,000 people and the share consistently trades at £10 mark (iro 5000 people and £4.50 when I joined back in 2009).
The other big transformational activities in 2013 were the continued success of the Insight program - particularly around social and collaboration where we have over 7000 staff on Salesforce Chatter with market leading engagement rates. Given our total population is only 9000 that’s quite extraordinary, as is the quality of the conversations.
