Domino's Pizza has completed a major move to cloud computing, aimed at freeing up internal resources.
The company is using the hosted RackConnect service from supplier Rackspace for its applications and platforms.
Domino's, the world's largest pizza delivery firm, announced the completion of the switchover as it reported that online sales had rocketed 43 percent in the last year, driving a £44 million pre-tax profit.
Online and mobile sales channels are now a key route to market for Domino's, which has said it depends on high IT uptime levels.
Lance Batchelor, Domino's chief executive, said in a statement to investors that the company had "successfully completed a wholesale move of our critical IT systems" to a hosted setup.
"This gives us added security, greater scalability and frees up the internal team to focus on developing initiatives like our new apps and further ways to leverage greater online sales and customer engagement."
Domino's had also "started to update the store operating system to Pulse – the system used in most Domino's markets across the globe", he said. The Pulse system is aimed at providing "improved management information" as well as "better labour scheduling and cost monitoring" for franchisees.
One in five stores have switched to the Pulse system and Domino's aims to have over half of the roll out completed by the end of this year.
