Camelot has signed a multi-year contract with Atos Origin for additional services to help the national lottery operator manage its SAP environment.
Atos won the right to provide SAP application management services to Camelot after partnering with the company earlier this year when Camelot prepared its successful bid for the next UK lottery licence.
The SAP systems in use at Camelot provide the back office for the lottery operator – financials, HR, payroll, business intelligence and CRM.
Neil Kellar, Camelot’s IT director, said the selection of Atos followed an evaluation of several suppliers in the SAP support arena, and the initial collaboration had worked well, with Atos enabling a transition from Camelot’s previous SAP support package in two weeks.
The signing of Atos is just the latest move by Camelot as it embarks on a major overhaul of its IT infrastructure and systems, having been confirmed in August as the preferred bidder of the National Lottery Commission to run the lotter for the next ten years.
Under its plans, the latest technology and networks will be introduced to enable the rapid launch of new games on the company’s three platforms: retail, online and interactive television.
New computer systems are set to be introduced, and existing hardware will be upgraded. The number of lottery terminals in retail outlets will be increased from 26,300 to 27,600 by 2009, and 27,500 in-store promotional multimedia screens will be rolled out.
