The UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) and Oracle have launched a tool to help users plan their future Oracle applications strategy.

The group’s ‘App Navigator’ iPhone application, announced at the UKOUG Apps 13 conference in London today, has been developed in collaboration with the vendor.

David Warburton-Broadhurst, president of the UKOUG, said: “The App Navigator helps our members navigate the Oracle state - for all existing applications, not just Fusion.”

In addition to the app, UKOUG announced the creation of the Apps Transformation Community, which will run its first event in March 2014.

“The Apps Transformation Community was set up to balance the needs of our members and to help them navigate the range of products Oracle has and plan for the future,” Warburton-Broadhurst said.

“It’s relevant to all of our members.”

Meanwhile, Warburton-Broadhurst said that the user group welcomed Oracle outlining its strategy more clearly at Oracle Openworld this year.

“Openworld 2013 was notable for clarifying its direction in hardware, cloud and big data,” he said.

“We liked that Oracle was articulating its strategy over the coming years. In the past they had different, conflicting messages. Now they have a consolidated message.”
