Insurance company, Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has awarded BT Global Services a three-year contract to deploy BT’s Application-Centric (AC) virtual private network (VPN) service across 20 of its international sites.
BT’s AC VPN solution is a managed, wide area network (WAN) service to allow enterprises to move beyond class of service (CoS) WAN management to a platform that can better match an enterprise's business priorities with its network infrastructure.
Using network application performance technology from Ipanema Technologies, BT’s AC VPN solution can be optimised to manage network performance based on a number of different options, including application by application; site by site; or by communities of interest. R&SA is also deploying a trial of BT’s MobileXpress solution under the terms of the agreement.
Duncan Smith, Royal & SunAlliance Group IS infrastructure manager said: “As a company with a global presence we need to be able to guarantee the delivery of applications in a consistent, reliable and resilient manner to our internal user communities around the world. As such, we saw a clear need to upgrade our network and BT’s AC VPN solution gives us far greater control so we can prioritise application traffic on our own terms, based on the critical needs of the business as we see them.”
