Nintendo is recalling 3.2 million hand straps for its recently launched Wii console, after reports that gamers have thrown the motion-sensor controls at their TVs.

A spokesman for the company confirmed the recall of the remote control handles, saying US users “threw” the control when playing. It is designed to mimic the gamer’s movements as a sword, tennis racket and other handheld implements.

Websites, like the gamely named “Wii have a problem” said the controls had gone flying at TV screens and players alike.
