City and Guilds, the vocational qualifications authority, has awarded a five-year, £13,5 million IT and services contract to Atos Origin.
Atos will take over management and hosting of City and Guilds IT applications and implement a new IT architecture to support the education body’s SAP systems, as well as migrating all legacy applications to a virtual environment.
The IT overhaul will provide the infrastructure for plans City and Guilds have to expand overseas.
Atos said virtualisation will reduce the number of servers from five to one, offering savings in management, power consumption and carbon emissions.
‘The work we will be doing with Atos Origin is integral to strategic plans for growth and our ambitions to become even more responsive to our customers – here and internationally,’ said Simon Morioka, Group Director of IT at City & Guilds.
