A House of Lords enquiry into consumer internet security will see UK payments association and credit card firm representatives questioned today.

Philip Robinson, financial crime sector leader for the Financial Services Authority will give evidence, alongside Colin Whittaker who heads up security for Apacs the payment authority, business security consultant Richard Martin and various senior executives from Visa.

A sub-group of the Lords’ science and technology committee is looking at the security threats posed to individuals who purchase goods online, and will make recommendations as to whether the government should do more to strengthen current regulations and legal framework. It will also consider what part IT hardware and software vendors may play making online consumer activity more safe.
