The channel, which was initially made available in 1,500 pubs across the UK in April this year, is available to consumers with a Sky HD box that subscribe to the broadcaster's top channels, providing they have a compatible 3D TV set and 3D glasses.
During its launch weekend, UK viewers will not only be able to see live 3D coverage of the Ryder Cup, but also blockbuster films such as Bolt and Monsters vs Aliens.
Following deals with a number of companies, including Disney, Fox, Universal and DreamWork, Sky will expand the programmes shown on the channel in the run-up to Christmas to offer a wide range of sports and movies, such as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Alice in Wonderland.
"As with High Definition, 3D is set to transform the way TV is enjoyed in homes nationwide. Sky customers will now be the first anywhere in Europe to experience 3D TV from the comfort of their living rooms," said Sky's chief executive, Jeremy Darroch.
"They can look forward to a fantastic mix of live sport, blockbuster movies, and innovative entertainment and arts shows."
