Sky's online catch-up TV service, Sky Player, is to be made available on a number of Freeview set-top boxes and internet-connected TVs.

The broadcaster has signed deals with Cello, which manufactures LCD TVs, and 3View - a provider of set-top boxes that offer access to the UK's free digital TV service, Freeview.

Sky Player can currently be access from any PC with a broadband connection, Windows Media Center, the Xbox 360 games console and Fetch TV - a TV-on-demand that combines Freeview broadcasts with other content.

Sky customers can access content related to their TV packages for free on SWky Player, while other users can watch shows on a pay-per-view basis.

Griff Parry, Sky's director of on-demand, said the bringing Sky Player together with Cello and 3View "demonstrates the vibrancy of the evolving internet video-on-demand sector".

"We will continue to look at opportunities to distribute Sky Player across new platforms, to give consumers even more choice and control over how they access high-quality pay TV content."
