Speakers and delegates at the 2010 CIO Summit say they are using outsourcers as a way of expanding capability rapidly without employing an army of permanent staff.
For some it's about pure numbers and buying in the IT muscle to help the company take advantage of an opportunity in the market, when it needs to, without having to retain staff when things stabilise.
For others, it's about buying in expertise so that the company can punch above its weight in the market.
