The Wikileaks app, which offered on-the-fly access to the whistle-blowing website, has been removed from the App Store.
Developer Igor Barinov confirmed to Techcrunch that the unofficial app had been removed from the App Store early on Tuesday.
Wikileaks' release of US government cables in late November caused a worldwide political storm, with companies such as Mastercard and Visa refusing to process donations to the site. Earlier this week the Bank of America cut off services to Wikileaks.
The Wikileaks app had only been available since 17 December and cost $1.99. It offered access to documents on the site as well as the Wikileaks Twitter feed.
