Zurich Insurance Group has signed a five-year contract extension for desktop support with outsourcer CSC, which Zurich's CIO said would help the company move more quickly and improve customer service.
CSC will continue to provide workplace desktop services to Zurich’s businesses in Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US. The deal includes a global service desk, local on-site support, and software packaging and distribution to more than 50,000 users.
"This service provides cost and performance benefits of a globally standardised desktop service environment, while allowing organisations within Zurich to tailor services specifically to their business needs and locations," said Zurich Insurance.
The exact value of the deal to CSC has not been disclosed. In another technology deal Zurich has just signed with Accenture, the global insurer will expand its use of the Accenture Duck Creek Policy system for its general insurance business in the UK.
The system will enable Zurich to "more rapidly develop, deploy and process insurance products and improve customer service across multiple lines of business", said Markus Nordlin, CIO at Zurich.
Accenture Duck Creek Policy software supports the entire policy life cycle process from point of sale through to renewal. Zurich said the software will enable it to streamline processes, define workflows and provide flexibility in managing products.
Last year, Zurich Insurance signed a deal with Accenture to help generate "better value" from its SAP finance and business intelligence applications.
