The market is eargerly awaiting the Christmas trading figures of UK retail gaint, Tesco.
Investors and analysts are looking to the retailer to post a strong performance, matching or exceeding those of its competitors, including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s who each enjoyed a sales uplift of at least 5%.
According to market resercher TNS, Tesco increased its UK market share over the holiday trading period to 31.4%.
The company has enjoyed continued growth in its main supermarket business, as well as in its online and recently launched Direct channels. It also expanded into mobile operator services with O2, voice over internet protocol (VoIP0 services and desktop office software during 2006.
