On Sunday morning we were taken to Spakenburg – a former fishing village which lost its industry when the Zuiderzee was closed off with the building of the Afsluitdijk – where we joined a 1908 former fishing boat and taken sailing on what now is effectively a very large lake.

The very pleasant day out started with a traditional "Schipper Bitters" toast (followed by quite a lot more toasts!) and included a great fish lunch on-board.

ViAG, our Dutch equivalent, starts its conference on Sunday evening, like SOCITM, with a networking reception and dinner, but no Sunday Plenary. With around 350 delegates, the conference is also a similar size to SOCITM's.
