Newham's Senior Managers' Forum met at East Ham Town Hall. The Mayor spoke about Key Issues – Cleaner, Greener, Safer – and Employment, Education, Skills and Quality Housing - and Investment Priorities relating to People, Service and the Place.
The Acting Chief Executive spoke about the year ahead, including 6 minutes that change Newham on 24th August – the Olympic handover from Beijing to London (and the Dental Showcase at Excel in November!) Chris also showed the "Shift Happens" film that we used on our last ICT Away Days. Bob presented a financial update, and the fitters appointed for Building 1000 presented the interior design approach. Finally, Ian Walker spoke about "Borough Beat" – opportunities for staff to work with the police in the borough as special constables.
I met with John Hollands and Eve Anderson to consider resourcing requirements for the next phases of the Trent (HR & Payroll) system, and a rolling twelve months work programme. The aim, now, is for "People Manager" (the module for Managers) to be fully rolled-out by June, and for employee self-service to be implemented in September.
In the evening, I attended a "Chemistry Club" meeting at Sartoria, in Savile Row.
