Among today's meetings was one to review Newham ICT's salary benchmarking arrangements – we committed to a review three years after the introduction of the scheme, which is about now. Among the objectives are to make the scheme easier to understand and administer!

We considered all the feedback that we have received and agreed a couple of changes that go some way to fulfil the objectives and address concerns about the timeliness of benchmarking. However, it would be unwise of me to discuss the details before our proposals have been formally considered by Newham's Recruitment & Retention Board!

Following discussion at the last Resources Management Board, I adapted my proposals for back-filling during my Socitm Presidential year, and it was agreed that Geoff would act-up as CIO, and we will recruit an Interim Head of ICT. That post was duly advertised though Newham HR, with a closing date of Wednesday 13th, and, over the weekend, I will be drawing-up a shortlist for interview, by Eve Anderson, from HR, Geoff Connell and I - on Monday 25th February.
