We were joined, at the start of today's ICT Management Team, by Louise and Kevin, from CIO Connect, to discuss how to develop our use of the service – which was timely, as I have felt that we are not making best use of it. Among the benefits I'm looking for are... greater involvement of Section Heads in external representation... leading to more knowledge transfer and supporting career development... and optimising our use of the research and knowledge network services.

Ged brought Mike Dixon, the Technical Account Manager for Microsoft's key Local Government accounts, along to present on the technical and infrastructure support services that are available to us.

The main agenda item was feedback from the Working Party set-up to consider flexible working in the ICT service. Joanna presented back on a job well done. Since I cannot be at this afternoon's Team Talk, and would also like a short time to consider the results, I am arranging an additional Team Talk before Christmas, at which we can present the results to all staff, and I will provide the management response.

Ian and I met an auditor from Deloitte to feedback on her audit of our Data Protection arrangements. We did not fare too badly, but there were a number of recommendations, with which we fully agree and will act upon.

In the afternoon I attended the SOCITM London Committee meeting, with Henri Reinbolt as its new Chair.
