Microsoft's UK chief cyber-security adviser Ed Gibson is leaving the company, CIO can exclusively reveal.
In recent years, Gibson has been the primary spokesman for Microsoft on security and risk matters. Popular on the speaker circuit, he previously spent 20 years as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where he investigated money laundering, cyber fraud and intellectual property theft cases.
Microsoft issued the following statement to CIO:
"We're grateful to Ed for his efforts during his time at Microsoft. For personal reasons Ed has decided the time is right to move on to a new challenge."
A source close to the company said: "That's a big loss to Microsoft and the UK. Ed is highly respected for his knowledge and candour, particularly around Parliament. He will be a hard act to follow."
